The problem

A studio full of hardware comes with a shelf of PDF manuals. Finding one setting mid-session means knowing which manual it's in, then paging through it.

What I built

  • 39 manuals split into about 6,950 passages and indexed on the studio's Mac mini
  • Answers written by a local model from the matching passages, each citing the manual and page
  • A web page to ask from, with a filter for a single device, reachable from outside the studio behind a password
  • The model, the index and the manuals all stay on the Mac mini
